Kristin Cavallari coy about reconciling with former fiance Jay Cutler

Kristin Cavallari's departure from "Dancing with the Stars" is not the first time audience votes have shocked judges, contestants and viewers.

A look back at previous seasons shows more than a few upsets. In fact, TV Guide named the elimination of Cheetah Girls singer Sabrina Bryan during week 6 of 2007's season five as the most shocking television event of 2007. Bryan was among that season's top mirrorball contenders.

Interestingly, Bryan, like Cavallari, was partnered with professional dancer Mark Ballas.

Last fall's season provided at least one shocker and several other "surprises." The upset was the elimination of Cavallari's "The Hills" co-star Audrina Patridge, on the day after she got the second highest score of the night.

At the time, judges took some of the blame saying viewers may have misinterpreted their comments. They said their advice for doing better next week may have been mistaken as criticism of the performance.

Then, singer Brandy, who regularly earned top scores, was booted right before the semi-finals, while other less talented dancers stayed in competition. Throughout the season, viewers wondered how Bristol Palin, Sarah Palin's daughter, could wind up in the semifinals when her judges' scores did not justify it.

"No," the former The Hills star told Access Hollywood reporter Shaun Robinson following Monday night's Dancing with the Stars performance show when asked if she has gotten back together with the NFL quarterback after he seen in the crowd.

"Nope, not talking about it," Cavallari's professional partner Mark Ballas interjected with a smile. "I am her dance coach, friend and protector."

In addition to denying she and Cutler are dating again, Cavallari -- who also appeared on Laguna Beach, MTV's The Hills predecessor, while she was in high school -- also playfully brushed off whether she knew how her ex-fiance came to attend the show and suggested his appearance was news to her.

"Did you?" Cavallari said coyly when Robinson noted she had seen Cutler in the audience. "I don't know. That's interesting... That's funny. I didn't see him in the front."

"He just used his legs and walked right in," Ballas told Access Hollywood.

"Interesting. I'm not sure how that happened. Mark obviously invited him," Cavallari joked. "Oh, Mark!"

"Oh me," Ballas responded sarcastically.

"Mark, you did it again!" Cavallari said playfully.

The reality TV star and Cutler got engaged in April after just seven months of dating only to call off their engagement in July, reportedly leaving Cavallari "dumped," "absolutely devastated" and "in shock" over how the dream wedding she was planning for the spring had ended.
