Mother, son charged with assault

The 54-year-old told police she was sitting in a marked car at Brookvale when a man hit and kicked the vehicle before opening the driver's door and spitting on her.

Another woman then assaulted a male transit officer attempting to intervene.

Police allege an 18-year-old man then approached the car and kicked it numerous times before opening the driver's door and spitting blood in the transit officer's face.

It's alleged the man's mother, 48, assaulted a male transit officer as he tried to intervene.

The mother and son then fled the scene at Mitchell Road but they were arrested a short time later at separate nearby locations.

A subsequent search of the woman allegedly uncovered cannabis.

The pair were taken to Dee Why Police Station where the man was charged with assault and malicious damage, and his mother was charged with assault and possessing a prohibited drug.

The mother and son were both granted bail to appear at Manly Local Court on November 2.

Ambulance paramedics treated the transit officer before she was transferred to Manly Hospital.
