The 36-year-old actress' character on the 1960s-themed AMC show, the voluptuous redhead Joan Harris, discovered during the previous fourth season that she is pregnant.
Family and kids are also the focus of Hendricks' new movie, "I Don't Know How She Does It," which stars Sarah Jessica Parker as Kate Reddy, a finance executive who is her family's breadwinner. Hendricks plays Reddy's best friend, Allison, a single working mother.
Hendricks and her husband, 33-year-old actor Geoffrey Arend, have been married since October 2009. When asked at the film's recent New York premiere if she planned on having any children, the actress told People magazine: "At least not any time soon. I feel busy enough right now."
In August, Hendricks and her fellow cast members began filming the fifth season of "Mad Men," which is set to premiere March 2012.
In April, she starred alongside Stephen Colbert, Neil Patrick Harris and Jon Cryer in the New York Philharmonic's production of the Stephen Sondheim musical "Company." That month, Hendricks also appeared in an episode of the ABC series "Body of Proof."
"I Don't Know How She Does It" is set for release on Friday, September 16. Hendricks also stars in another film that hits theaters that day - the action movie "Drive," which stars Ryan Gosling.
The actress also recently filmed the dramas "Detachment," which also stars Adrien Brody and Lucy Liu, and "Decoding Annie Parker." In 2012, Hendricks will appear in the boxing movie "The Bleeder" with Naomi Watts and her life partner Liev Schreiber.
Meanwhile, Hendricks has the 2011 Emmy Awards to look forward to, as she is nominated for her role on "Mad Men."
Amid two busy careers, the actress and hubby Geoffrey Arend make it work by giving each other a little grace, Hendricks said during the Cinema Society-hosted after party at the Hudson Hotel.
"We've been doing a lot of traveling and different jobs and going back and forth," she said. "I don't freak myself out if something doesn't happen."
In her new film, Hendricks plays a single working mom, but the actress says she's not quite ready for a baby yet. "At least not any time soon," she said. "I feel busy enough right now."
But there's always time in the Emmy-nominated "Mad Men" star's home for a good meal.
Arend, 33, is "an amazing cook," Hendricks said, so she's trying to stop feeling guilty when he takes care of the groceries. "You don't have to feel guilty about it. And sometimes, he really enjoys it! I think he's surpassed me now in his culinary talents.
