Tareq Salahi files for divorce from Michaele Salahi of 'Real Housewives

Salahi -- who had reported his wife missing and possibly kidnapped to authorities on Tuesday night, only to later learn she had actually joined Schon on tour -- filed for divorce from the former The Real Housewives star in a Virginia court on Friday,

alahi is citing adultery and abandonment as the reason for the divorce, according to a copy of the divorce filing obtained by TMZ.

In addition, Salahi claims his wife's actions -- which received widespread media coverage when he went to the press after allegedly becoming concerned authorities weren't taking his report of Michaele's disappearance seriously enough -- have embarrassed and humiliated him.

"Due to the abandonment of the marriage and adultery by Michaele, I have suffered both emotional and physical harm," he wrote in the filing.

"Over the objections of me, she continually exposes our friends and acquaintances to her adulterous relationship and has flaunted the same throughout the community, the nation and indeed the world, and thus caused me to suffer great harm, humiliation, and embarrassment."

According to the filing, Michaele began her affair with Schon, a former boyfriend, several months ago.
On September 13, Michaele failed to return home and Tareq reported her missing or kidnapped. According to the documents, the FBI learned that she was with Schon in Memphis, Tennessee and didn't plan on returning.

Virginia law officials said Michaele Salahi told them via telephone that she did not want her husband to find her.

The Warren County Sheriff's Office in Virginia said that it had received a call from Salahi's husband, Tareq, on Tuesday evening at 11:55 p.m. He told them that he had last heard from his wife "about six hours ago" and was concerned because "she had contacted him from an Oregon area code and she was supposed to be back in Northern Virginia today."

"FROM SALAHI FAMILY: @MichaeleSalahi RHODC star is MISSING, Please RT, if u know any details please contact missing@MichaeleSalahi.com," read a message posted on the 45-year-old reality star's Twitter account on Wednesday, September 14.

"Deputy Mike Glavis subsequently spoke with Mrs. Salahi by telephone a few moments later," the sheriff's office said in its statement, obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com. "She seemed calm, was engaged in conversation, and assured the deputy that she had left the residence with a good friend and was where she wanted to be. Mrs. Salahi advised that she did not want Mr. Salahi to know where she was."

E! Online magazine reported that the reality star was with Schon in Memphis, where the band is performing with Foreigner. A rep from the band confirmed to the entertainment site, "nobody kidnapped her and they are in Memphis together."

She and her husband first made headlines in 2009 after they were accused of entering a White House banquet without an official invitation. They denied they "crashed" the event but were criticized heavily by many press outlets and on blogs.

On September 8, the Salahis appeared on "Matty P's Radio Happy Hour," during which Michaele Salahi revealed that she had posed for Playboy for an upcoming issue.

When asked how they deal with critics, Tareq Salahi told the Matty P radio show: "Those idiots don't realize that they're actually helping us. It's all good, actually, because it sparks more interest... It's become part of pop culture if you will, to have haters. It's actually a good thing to have because it increases awareness."

Last year, Michaele Salahi appeared on the Bravo reality series "The Real Housewives of D.C." The cable network canceled the show, one of several in its franchise, earlier this year after the series ran for one season.

Michaele Salahi later joined the VH1 reality show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew." She was booted off the series before the premiere of its fifth season in June because it was determined she did not meet the show's key criteria - having an addiction.

Her husband told OnTheRedCarpet.com in a statement that Michaele, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, was "fired due to her health condition, which is a clear violation of the Americans Disabilities Act."

In May, Michaele released her debut single, a dance song called "Bump It."

Schon is the only member of the rock band Journey to have recorded on all the band's albums. He has been divorced twice and has four children, including a 7-year-old daughter with his ex-wife, Amber Kozan. The couple divorced in 2008 after seven years of marriage.
