Peter Carl Fabergé’s 166th Birthday Peter Carl Fabergé’s 166th Birthday

MOULTRIE, GA -
Russian jeweler Ilya Abelsky is bringing more than 300 eggs to Griner Jewelry in Moultrie, but these are just any eggs. These are Faberge styled Eggs.

The originals were made in the 1800's by Peter Carl Faberge for the Royal Russian family.

"When he (the king) commissioned Faberge to make an egg, the expectations were very high," said Abelsky.

And he didn't disappoint. The eggs were beautiful and today are worth millions of dollars.

Abelsky has crafted more than 800 eggs and wants South Georgians to learn about the history of Russia through his jewelry.

"I hope the people come to feast their eyes and learn about the tradition and culture of Russia, from me a Russian jeweler," said Abelsky.

"We all try to have things that are a little different than from what you see everywhere and these are about as unique and unusual as you can get," said Jewelry Store Owner Darrell Griner.

Abelsky says the eggs represent new life and are a sign of royalty and with mother's day around the corner, he says these eggs will make a great gift to mothers to show them they are royal.

"I think it's a great opportunity to give your mom something she would never dream to acquire and that's the gift of a Faberge egg," said Abelsky.

Although the original eggs cost millions, you can buy one of Albelsky's eggs as low as $100.

Abelsky will be in Moultrie Saturday from 10 until 4, so get some eggs while you can.
