The protesting students complained the BISE had put their future at stake as many among them were still awaiting the result. Due to the delay, non-issuance of marks-sheets and flaws in the marking process, scores of students failed to apply for admissions to varsities.
Irked over this embarrassing situation, a number of affected students gathered on Bypass Road outside the BISE office, shouting slogans against the administration.
The students alleged that the BISE controller did not issue mark-sheets as most of the re-checking cases pointed out blunders in checking process.
They also accused the BISE officials of corruption, maintaining that if an impartial inquiry was conducted all top positions announced would be changed. Police were called in to placate the protest that continued for several hours. But this could not stop the mob who resorted to vandalism and torched some of the record at one-window operation room on the BISE premises.
The protesting students, flying into rage, barged into the Gujranwala’s Intermediate Board office and smashed building’s glasses by pelting stones.
Police clashes also ensued injuring several on the virtual battleground in the city. More police reinforcement was called in that broke up the crowded students by resorting to aerial firing.
Students say they are massively disappointed, as they are faced with their academic year going to waste.
Students brought their demonstration to halt after successful negotiations with the board management offering two-day time.
Similarly, students protested against the board management in Faisalabad too and held the errors in computerized results as deplorable.
Protesting students say it is board’s inefficiency not to deliver accurate results despite receiving big fees, as names of boys were replaced with girls’ names; also, the roll numbers as well as groups have been changed.
The demonstrators demand the high-ups to take notice of the board’s incompetence and issue the errorless results forthwith.
