Amy's family say toxicology results showed the presence of alcohol but no illegal drugs in her body when she died.
The Rehab singer, 27, was found dead in bed at her £2.3million home in Camden, North London, in July. Cabbie Mitch, 60, said she had made a "fantastic recovery" from drug addiction and had not drunk booze for three weeks.
Family sources suggested her death could have been caused by sudden alcohol withdrawal after she ignored doctors' warnings to cut down gradually.
Meanwhile the tragic star's close pal Kelly Osbourne hit out at a fake Amy Winehouse for sending her a cruel Twitter message. It said: "Miss ya darling! x".
Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death," the family said in a written statement, citing test results provided to them by authorities.
Winehouse's soulful, throaty vocals brought the British musician stardom in 2007, but her troubled off-stage life -- chronicled in her top 10 hit "Rehab" -- won her notoriety.
Her death came less than two months after her latest release from a rehabilitation program and weeks after she was booed offstage by disappointed fans in Serbia.
The tattooed London-born singer-songwriter's first album, "Frank," debuted in 2003, when she was 19.
International success came with her 2007 album "Back to Black." She dominated the 2008 Grammys, winning five awards that night and delivering, via satellite from London, a strong performance of "Rehab."
Mitch Winehouse has said he plans to write a memoir, called "Amy: My Daughter," to be released next summer, which he said would tell the story of the Amy that the public never got to know.
