Kate Winslet: I'm the 'Hypocrite' of the Decade on Nude Scenes‎

Kate Winslet admits she is a "hypocrite" when it comes to nude scenes.
The 35-year-old actress had vowed to stop taking her clothes off on screen, but was once again baring all for her role in the Emmy-nominated TV series 'Mildred Pierce', and she now plans to stop making big statements about her career.
She told V magazine: "It definitely makes me the hypocrite of the decade. I'm just going to stop saying it."
Even though Kate has appeared naked in several projects, including 'Titanic', 'Little Children' and 'The Reader', the Oscar winner insists it doesn't get any easier taking your clothes off if front of room full of people.

Winslet acknowledges that she’s gone on record in the past being none too fond of stripping for the camera- she even has vowed in the past to do no further naked shooting. (But after the way she was reportedly treated on the Titanic set- with director James Cameron allegedly calling her “Kate Weighs-a-Lot,” do you blame her?) Winslet seems to have eased up on the position now- except she’s still beating up on herself a little.

In a recent interview, Winslet admits that she can’t take a firm position on nude scenes anymore because she keeps having to reverse it. She newly vows to just stop talking about it:

“It definitely makes me the hypocrite of the decade,” she says. “I’m just going to stop saying it.”

Winslet really struck it big with Titanic, and her nudest scene in the film is still pretty widely referenced. Winslet indicates that while she may opt to do them down the road, it doesn’t mean she has to be super keen on the idea:

“I hate it! Listen, make no mistake, I just get on it. I just go in and say ‘Oh f—’ let’s do it,’ and boom! If you complain about it or procrastinate it’s not going to go away. It’s a profoundly bizarre thing to do.”
She adds:

“As actors you talk about it all the time. You can literally be tangled in sheets, and you turn to the other actor and say, ‘What the f— are we doing?’ Dear Mum, at work today I had so-and-so’s left nut sack pressed against my cheek. It’s sort of unethical if you think about it in those terms.”
Overall, says Winslet, the challenges she faces as an actor are what’s important- and she hopes to continue to be offered roles that help her “learn.”
